Our Herd

Beef Done Right
At North 36 Farms, we are committed to raising our premium Black Angus cattle the right way. This means our herd spends its days on lush, open pastures; dine on nutrient-dense feed made entirely of ingredients you'd find in your own kitchen; and receive vaccines and antibiotics only when medically necessary (and never to rush their own growth).
Why do we do things this way? Because it's the right thing to do -- for our customers, for our herd, and for our planet. Here's a deeper look at why we do things the way we do.

Superior Flavor & Nutrition
At North 36 Farms, our Black Angus cattle are raised on nutrient-rich Tennessee pastures and finished with a carefully designed grain protocol, resulting in beef with exceptional marbling and depth of flavor.
This balance of pasture-raising and grain-finishing enhances the tenderness of the product you enjoy at home and packs it with the kind of flavor and nutrient profile that can never be rushed.
This isn’t mass-produced meat and you'll know it from the first bite.

Environmental Sustainability
Our cows are born and raised in Middle Tennessee. They aren't shipped across state lines or bought and sold repeatedly as they grow. This simplifies our transportation footprint and allows us to retain tight control over our quality at every step of the process. Our rotational grazing and pasture management practices ensure we don't overtax the land which, in turn, results in a healthier environment for us all (cows included!).

Transparency
Today, most of us want to know where our food comes from, what's in it, and if we can trust the faces behind the brand. This is a family business and our founders, Chris Rudd and Kirstin Hobday, cared for our earliest cows (and their calves!), developed the stringent care protocols that define our sustainable approach, and built the fences for our first pasture. Their children consider the Farm their home away from home and, as we've grown, we've continued to prioritize a core belief: this is a family business, built on a commitment to transparency in all we do.
